MEET THE CALENDAR GIRLS

Calendar Girls is a volunteer song and dance team. Each dancer brings to the team love of dance, dedication to the team, creativity and passion for the Southeastern Guide Dogs organization. We strive to be role models for women of all ages, showing that age is a state of mind. Many of the team members are retired, others continue to work full time. The time commitment to the team is enormous as we practice several hours per week and perform over 100 public and private performances each year. Our performances take us as far north as Port Charlotte and as far south as Marco Island. Our dance routines incorporate music from Broadway, country, rock ‘n roll, patriotic and sacred.

The journey began in 2005, when a group Of dancers auditioned and were chosen as performers for the half-time show Of a local basketball team. When the basketball team folded, the dancers seized the opportunity to perform for audiences in Southwest Florida and raise funds for a special charity. In 2006, the group incorporated as a not-for-profit LLC and the Calendar Girls were born! The Southeastern Guide Dogs was chosen as our favored charity and currently are working on sponsoring our 25th Guide Dog.

There are three charter members still active with the team. Katherine and Tina dance and guide the future of the team while Linda is our public relations manager.

We’ve been cowgirls, showgirls, pirates, peace lovin’ hippies, beauty queens, bunnies, Hawaiian princesses, biker chicks, do wop dandies, Broadway babes, zombies, Marilyn Monroe… whatever your theme, we’ll actualize your dream!

From costume and script to musical selections and performance time, Katherine, our Program Coordinator, will collaborate with you to make your event’s entertainment the one all your guests will remember! Every show is different, and we always welcome new and return engagements. Click here for more information on hiring The Calendar Girls.

The Calendar Girls love glitz, glamour, and dancing, all while raising awareness and funding for our favored charity, Southeastern Guide Dogs. We are always looking for ladies willing to share their love Of dance with Southwest Florida. We have an open audition policy and would be happy to discuss it with you.

Contact Katherine, the program director, at 239-850-6010 if you are interested.
